Economic Analysis

Starting from the architecture studio project, we developed a detailed offer for each element and job activity. As usual, two different proposals were submitted to the customer. In addition to the proposal that perfectly reflects customer requests, we made savings by reviewing materials, treatments, production methods to achieve a more economical one, while maintaining unchanged the design and quality.

Image depicting a pencil and a square.

Details Drawings

According to the architects renderings and preliminary drawings each custom furniture and wall element was designed in detail by our technicians. We realized both furniture, tables, kitchen and the walls and glass elements that required a particular familiarity at the design and executive level.

CONCEPT

The project aim was to realize a multipurpose co-working space, where work and comfort are intertwined. Starting from the entrance, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, the desk furniture, with their essential and minimal lines, catch the essence of space. The choice of finishes was one of the key elements. To respect the architect’s concept we proposed and chose lines, textures, and details that add depth to the space. Another key element was transparency. To divide the spaces, we realized wooden walls in which we inserted glass to create an open flow working environment. Also for the meeting room we designed furniture able to give life to a collaborative and airy meeting space. The project also includes convivial spaces such as the kitchen and lounge areas. They are the social hub of the space, where hospitality and networking collide.

Project challenge

Details

The architects and clients provided precise references for the materials choice. According to the concept and request, we researched a lot of samples of finishes to submit for approval. Nothing could be products without the architect’s approval. Working with the architecture studio and Fabio Fossati Architectes SA, we designed spaces that reflect the company’s values and support ambitions.

Engineering

Our technicians starting from the architects’ drawings and following the client’s requests, have carried out the site surveys and worked on executive planning to create detailed shop drawings for each individual piece of furniture. Each element was broken down in all its parts to selectioning the right finishes and production methods.

Image depicting a roller for painting

Complete fit out and installation

For this project, the client had set an opening date to be respected. We looked for purchase products that could respect the deadlines and carefully followed and coordinated the production of all custom furniture. Two shipments were organized, as requested by the customer, to complete the installation in two weeks. This involved an accurate management of all the material to have it in the house before delivery.

CONCEPT

The concept for the Geneva private house it’s clear, it must reflect the light of its inhabitants. This is tangible not only in finishes and colors choice but also in the shapes and lines of all the elements we made. We took care of the realization of custom furniture and doors. In doing so, we adapted the furniture design to the characteristics of the different family members. For the daughter’s room, pink shades were chosen to make all the elements, including those of the attached bathroom, while for the son’s room and the master were used walnut essences, with more sober and elegant tones and added details such as leather handles. The living room and kitchen space embraces a classic style; the reed wood, marble, brass finishes were utilized but there are also modern touches such as “terracotta” sofas with sinuous lines that create contrast. Collaborating closely with the construction supervision and the client, welcoming their proposals and ideas, were the keys to the project success.

Project challenge

Private project

Managing and accommodating customer requests was not easy. Meticulousness, precision, attention to detail are central elements in each project; in that of a private apartment even more. The possibility of error must be minimized. Each drawing, each choice was submitted to the customer’s approval. To create the custom furniture we started sometimes from the inspiration images sought by the customer.

Project-assessment- Gitaly contract

Project Assessment

Inside Hotel Marmont there are two restaurants: Cafè Marmont and restaurant HOME. HOME is a chain launched by the M3 Group, present in Meyrin and Etoy. It is not a simple restaurant, it is a real place to live, welcoming, domestic, in which to feel just like home. This atmosphere is born from the union between space and design articulated around a precise intention. We resumed the chain concept, declining and developing it to adapt it both to the style and design of the entire Hotel and to the context in which the hotel is located, namely the city center.

Image depicting the logistics

Logistics

For this project, the client had set an opening date to be respected. We looked for purchase products that could respect the deadlines and carefully followed and coordinated the production of all custom furniture. Two shipments were organized, as requested by the customer, to complete the installation in two weeks. This involved an accurate management of all the material to have it in the house before delivery.

CONCEPT

The M3 Group has a clear idea of launching a new concept of hospitality; imagining hotels with an original, unique, extravagant design, new worlds where you can live unique experiences. As for roms project, also for the public areas the client had his own precise vision of style and design to be researched. Consistency, stylistic harmony with the rooms, aesthetics, functionality and integration of the HOME concept within the realization were the fundamental points around which to rotate the entire project. We took care of the realization of all the custom furniture and of the supply of the freestanding elements such as chairs, tables, benches. To recall the rooms design and concept, essential lines were preferred and tubular structures were used just like for the “Meuble de Vie” and “chariot” of the rooms. We were able to perfectly integrate the HOME concepT, which represented for us a project in the project, with the rest of the public areas spaces. Our technicians, designers and architects worked together to give to each element the functional and aesthetic characteristics. Each piece of furniture, such as the bar counter in the Marmont restaurant and café, was embellished by a light play and the particular materials. The essential lines and colors of the furniture were combined with purchase elements with the most striking and bright colors. The result is a hotel inspired by the heART.

Project challenge

Timelines

One of the main challenges in this project was to meet the customer’s opening dates. The rooms project had already been completed last year, so the hotel had to come into operation as soon as possible. Research  freestanding solutions that could meet the deadlines, required a lot of work as well as coordinating the production of custom-made elements that incorporate a myriad of different details and materials. In addition, a tight planning of two weeks was established to complete the installation, for which we had to manage logistics and shipments in order to be able to respect the client’s requests.

Engineering

For the Afterwork public areas, in addition to the supply of almost all free-standing furniture, we dealt with creating all the custom furniture. Our team of experienced architects, designers and technicians worked together to create detailed shop drawings for each individual piece of furniture. Key design criteria were: functionality, quality and aesthetics. We realized 13 different furniture perfectly in line with the industrial design that characterizes the whole Hotel.

Image depicting a roller for painting

Complete fit out and installation

After the installation of the 136 rooms, we immediately took care of the public areas to respect the Hotel opening date. We coordinated and supervised the installation  on the site and organized the shipments, including those of the free-standing furniture ordered at a later time, to allow the Hotel to open on the established date.

CONCEPT

Functional and in step with time, the Afterwork public areas are suitable for all types of needs. The minimal style and industrial design is reflected in the choice of materials, style, colors of all furniture that we realized. For the custom elements design we opted for clean and essential lines, preferring tubular structures to something more massive. Each furniture is embellished by melamine wood, chosen as the main finish, and by blue elements. The same color was taken over to cover the cushions of the various banquets. Different speech for free-standing elements. We inserted in the project chairs with vivid and bright colors to create the right contrast typical of the industrial style. The Hotel restaurant named “Home”, is part of a franchising of M3 Group, for this we have adapted some of our choices to the franchising concept.

Project challenge

Review of choices and decisions

Although the project for Afterwork public areas was not extremely complex, it was still a great project for us as it is a new construction and therefore not a renovation. In addition to the ongoing project, numerous choices and decisions were reviewed to fully center both the style and the client budget. For this reason we had to coordinate both with the teams on site and with our suppliers in order to be able to respect the timing.

Engineering

Starting from the rough drawings, we carried out in-depth analysis and studied each element in detail to allocate it perfectly to the use function for which it was designed. For example, the project included the swivel TV, visible both from the bed and from the living area. For this element we studied a technical solution capable of fulfilling this functionality. Moreover, one of the main problems was that of integrating and re-adapt the plant engineering, made on the basis of old drawings, within the project. Elements such as the boiserie were made for this purpose.

Image depicting a quality process

Production and Quality control

In this project we focused on respecting deadlines and the customer’s budget. The timing was reduced in course for yard necessity, this required a readjustment of times production while preserving quality.

CONCEPT

Functional and in step with the times, the Afterwork rooms are suitable for all types of needs. The minimal and industrial design dominates the whole. Like every M3 Group Hotel, also this one stands out for its originality and creativity, combining artistic contamination and unique design elements. Atypical and unique wallpapers are the recurring element of every project we realized for the Group; here too they are used to differentiate each room. We took care of the design and supply of all the furniture, including the boiserie, of 136 rooms divided into 7 types. Each solution was carefully designed as to be functional from a technical point of view and be in line with the style and philosophy of the brand. Almost all the furniture in the rooms are custom elements. We started from the concept and project of the client’s architect to develop the detail drawings and moved to production. We realized more than ten custom furniture for each room. The project also includes purchase elements of internationally known brands, with which we collaborate for years, to create the right contrast and give the spaces a further touch.

Project challenge

Choice of strips

One of the main challenges of this project was to satisfy the client in terms of design, quality, price of the strips, one of the main and incisive project elements. We conducted research, proposing several alternatives to search with the client the best solution that could incorporate all the features above.

Key points

Image depicting a pencil and a square.

Detail drawings

M3 Group has a clear idea to distinguish each of its Hotels with original, branded and custom made furniture and elements. Designing in detail and then making real something that does not exist or that exists in a different form, materials, always hides problems to be faced. Each element has been drawn in detail over and over again considering all the engineering elements in order to be able to move on to the production.

Image depicting a chair

Prototyping

The project uniqueness has made it essential to realize for each element a multitude of different samples in shape and color to approve all the details. In this phase, although the concepts had already been prototyped, some furniture has been rethought and redesigned to make them more functional and optimize the whole. For example to realize the “Meuble de Vie” it was necessary to make several revisions in terms of design and samples because it was not easy to adapt it to the different functions and to make it flexible to meet the client’s different needs. For this project we also realized the sample room to otimize and test everything.

CONCEPT

The concept of Hotel Marmont fully reflects the style and the context in which the Hotel is located: the historic Prince street. The whole is dominated by vintage style, brass coloured metal elements, wood finishes and bright colors such as purple, orange, teal. The wallpapers, different and carefully selected for each room, give character and uniqueness to the spaces. The hotel is the result of artistic contamination and original and personalized design elements. These are the real protagonists of the scene and the project. Unique elements such as the “Meuble de Vie”, “Post tenebras lux” bedside table, the wash basin made in the shape of a cap, the “Meuble chariot” were designed and realized custom made for the client. There is no furniture in the Hotel rooms that has not been studied in detail. The result is spaces hard to forget in which daily life breathes beauty.

Project challenge

Custom design

The peculiarity and uniqueness of the project were the real challenges. Each piece of furniture, custom made only for the customer, has its own story. Drawing and making real so many different and unique solutions required a lot of work, attention and research. The collaboration with our network was vital to optimize each element from an aesthetic and functional point of view.

Project-assessment- Gitaly contract

Project assessment

We elaborated a new concept for the breakfast area paying attention to customer’s needs. There was the desire both to maintain the style that distinguishes the entire Hotel and to make the spaces multifunctional and flexible by design “a new conviviality”.  We proposed different solutions and concepts with the aim to fully achieve the goal.

Image depicting a pencil and a square.

Detail drawings

To make the spaces more flexible and functional, so as to adapt for all guests needs, we drew different custom elements such as the high table.

CONCEPT

Our collaboration with Manotel Group has been going on for more than 15 years and we already taken care of the complete design and furnishings for rooms and public areas of the Hotel N’vy***S, collaborating with Patrick Ribes. This year we were commissioned to redesign the breakfast area and the “zone of ciel étoilé”. The purpose was to make these spaces suitable for a plurality of uses embracing the new trend in the hotel sector “design a new conviviality”. So, we realized environments that can be lived in different ways, creating spaces in which guests can work, have breakfast, do a business breakfast or relax. Each space is thus exploited to the fullest. To make this possible, no major changes were needed. In fact we elaborated a simple project that provided the insertion of different types of seats (standard, lounge, high) and tables adapts to different uses. The “zone du ciel étoilé” was made more alternative and emotional, a kind of waiting room where guests can relax. Of course, to maintain the original and unique style of the entiere Hotel, we played on the choice of colors and inserted articles of famous design brands.

Project challenge

The Hotel’s distinctive style

Each space of this Hotel has a strong identity, that makes the project more complex and interesting at the same time. We conducted a strong research to identify the style with which to characterize these spaces, while respecting the atmosphere of the whole hotel.

Economic analysis

Iconia launched a tender to award the various works of the project. Swiss, German, Italian companies were involved. We conducted a detailed economic analysis with the aim to respect the costs and timing. This allowed us to win the tender.

Engineering

We started from architect’s drawings and we created detailed shop drawings for each individual piece of furniture. This phase included the final selection of finishes and production methods and the analysis of the final use and maintenance of each item. For example, for the rooms’ furniture we chose more resistant materials, as these spaces will be used more by students.

Prototyping

Iconia, for the rooms project, required the realization of a sample room. The aim was clear; convince property. For us, it was a phase of verification and study to improve the project and optimize assembly and production.

Different work teams were present at the yard, so we had to organize ourselves to work in harmony with the other companies, through a tight planning.

CONCEPT

The Iconia Group with its artistic director O. Di Chio signed the concept of the entire complex, proposing refined and innovative environments, using sustainable materials, according to the codes of Swiss interior architecture. The connection with Scandinavian design is tangible in every space. You can find this touch in the minimal lines of the furniture, in the pastel colors used and in the slogans situated in the lobby walls. In this project there was also the desire, to resume the concept of sustainability, to preserve some materials present. In fact, some elements, such as the wooden staircase of the lobby, were maintained and made more modern through specific solutions identified. This project can be divided into three important projects, that of rooms, public areas and restaurant Peppino. For the rooms, we took care of all peinture, wallpaper and realization of custom furniture. The Hotel is conceived as a functional space, aimed at a young target, especially school groups. The realization of custom elements was affected by this. In fact, in the rooms, we created solutions designed for students such as double beds, open wardrobes where to put ski boots, wide desks to study in and we chosened more resistant materials. So, each space is planned considering the students’ needs. The realization of public areas also followed this line. The aim was to design a new conviviality and innovative and functional spaces. For public areas, we took care of the paintings, wall coverings including the boiserie designed according to specific requests and of all custom furniture such as the podium for the artistic sculpture. The restaurant Peppino is a local trattoria where in the kitchen we find the famous chef Mirto Marchesi.

The architects: Iconia AG

Iconia is the result of the union of Lombart and La Cellula Group. The new firm delivers greater creativity, innovative solutions, and a lot of services across a wider range of markets and project types, from interior architecture to retail design. The use of new technologies and eco-sustainable solutions represent a constant and a distinctive feature of every Group’s project.

Project challenge

Work against the clock

For this project, the challenge is related to the timing and supply. Defined the plan, the times of realization, installation and therefore of delivery were tightened. In this tight schedule we had to realize 6 floors of rooms, public areas and restaurant Peppino. We adopted precise planning and managed different teams to complete the work in only 10 weeks.  As regards the supply, in the project was inserted a wood finishes, for the furniture, not available in the timings established. For this reason we researched and proposed alternative finishes identical from the aesthetic and functional point of view but available, with the aim to fulfill the client’s and the architect’s requests.

Economic analysis

This project had a fixed budget. For this reason, we proposed different options for each solution present in the architect’s project with the aim both to respect the budget established for each single element and functional and aesthetic requests.

Image depicting a roller for painting

Complete fit out and installation

We made this environment functional by assigning to each space a precise use destination, optimizing the whole thing to the maximum. During the installation phase we dealt with all the technical problems that occurred.

CONCEPT

The collaboration with M3 Group, and in this case with M3 Restaurant, has been going on for a lot of years. The mutual trust, the success of projects realized, and the fact that pâtisserie Sofia is located in the same lot of Hotel Prince (another project realized by us for the Group), led M3 to entrust us with this project. The concept for Patisserie Sofia is very clear: the style and colors must be connected to the female name choice for the franchise, to the brand and to products packaging. For these reasons, the spaces are characterized by soft shades of pink, pistachio, baby blue, and lilac, revived by a neat lighting that highlights the products on offer. The brand Sofia is a young and new brand and the Group plans to open others Sofia soon. Considering all this, we helped to strengthen the brand identity by studying and realizing solutions that can be replicated in all Sofia. The marble shelves of the tables, the refrigeres showcases, the colors desired by the architect perfectly replicated on the furniture and the custom elements are the perfect examples of this. To realize all elements of the Sofia project we must respect not only the brand’s request but also those of Chef D.Costa. In fact the Chef had specific requests for the project materials. He wanted materials and finishes functional, suitable for the intended use but also able to show and enhance his creations. We identified the solutions that could satisfy all points. We managed all project phases; from design to realization, creating a distinctive place where everything is a communication and differentiation lever, realized custom made for M3 Group.

The architects: M3 Restaurants

The Group reinvents or creates new establishments in strategic places of the city with strong development potential. Friendly, unexpected, gourmet and responsible, their restaurants contribute, day and night, to the dynamism of life in Geneva and its inhabitants.

Project challenge

The project

This time the challenge is the project itself, or rather the type of intervention with a more specific destination. In fact, we’ve never realized a bakery project before. So it was a new field for us also for the type of products and articles inserted in the project such as the bar counter that is not really a bar counter but it looks like a boulangerie. For this reason, we adapted our experience and competencies on Hotel’s restaurant/bar especially in terms of choice of the most suitable materials and the design and supply of custom furniture with the aime to have success also in this project.

Economic Analysis

Being a project, by its nature, of reduced durability than that of a hotel project, the customer’s budget was limited. For this reason, we have carried out a careful analysis to respect the established economic constraints and to identify alternative solutions if the elements included in the project didn’t fit into the budget, optimizing and satisfying requests and costs.

Image depicting a light bulb

Engineering

Sketchiz is a real place of fun at 360 degrees. It’s made up not only of five themed karaoke rooms inspired by the Japanese model but also about ten arcade and traditional games. For the latter we had to conduct a thorough study to integrate them into appropriate technical solutions. It was a real challenge for us to do that because it’s a thing far from our world and from what we usually do. In addition, this project is highly scenographic and we had to engineer to recreate the effects required by the customer and the architect such as the reflective ceilings, the false window of the chalet room, wallpaper reproducing a library and more generally the concept of “speakeasy” which links everything.

Image depicting a carriage

Purchasing

This project is characterized by the multitude and variety of purchase and custom items. After careful research, we turned to our network of suppliers, artisans, and to major Italian and international brands to find and realize all the elements included in the project.

CONCEPT

For this project we managed all the phases, from design to installation. The idea of client and architect was clear: recreate a place of fun composed by different and characteristic worlds. We have elaborated a specific concept for each karaoke room with the aim to recreate the five worlds and the five “moods” inspired by Tokyo, pop art, cambaret, chalet and disco atmosphere.

Each room has been treated as a single project; every solution was studied in detail and we have researched the items, finishes, materials, custom elements more appropriate to make the guest feel completely immersed and part of that specific world.

Everything had to be characterized by a touch of spectacle, for this reason we have elaborated different solutions capable of making every space scenographic.

The readable LEDs present in every room, the reflective ceilings of disco’s room, the wallpaper that recreates a fake library in the lounge bar zone, the game of contrasts, the purple color chosen for the stairs are perfect examples of the above.

Games, such as darts, have also been included in this project. We related with the suppliers of these games to identify technical solutions in which to integrate them.

The final result is an unexpected place, unique that represents for guests a sort of escape from the daily routine, a way to unplug.

Project challenge

Technical solutions

As already mentioned, we had to find technical solutions to recreate these particular settings, the scenic effect and the desidered impact on the guest, always respecting the budget.

Complexity

Complexity both on management and research terms. In fact, we can define this project as a series of projects within a single project, in which the technical and aesthetic choices could not be replicated, in which for each environment there was a different and specific research and management. It’s been like managing 5 different yards. In addition, since the project consists of many elements, the management of purchases has also been complicated.

Details drawings

We produced drawings on drawings to optimize the cutting and drilling of the panels and reduce material waste.

Image depicting the logistics

Logistic

The HPL panels by company Trespa came from Germany, we haven took care of management of customs and the trucks for the delivery, optimizing times and costs.

CONCEPT

The client needed to renovate the facades and the external staircase. The aim was to give the Everness Hotel a totally new look in line with modern interior spaces. The concept for this project is very clear: develop something that could “break the modules” by interrupting the extreme regularity and rigidity of the structure, and also give it more verticality, considering its horizontal development. In addition, we also had to redesign the external staircase to integrate it more to the structure and achieve aesthetic improvement.

The idea was to develop a concept that could create greater harmony and contact between the structure and the surrounding natural landscape. For this reason, after an in-depth study, we have opted for HPL panels by the company Trespa from the latest collection called Lumen, a light-reflecting material that allows the facades to reflect the color of the sky and to change colour according to the sky and sunlight, which, when manipulated, can become a real design element.

Moreover, for the development of the concept of the external staircase we completely embraced the idea of nature and vine leaves. That’s why we have covered it with a geometrically textured module with perforated triangles, illuminated at night by the interior lights, creating an intersection between the interior and exterior.

Project Manager: Elisabetta Boldrini

Realizing the concept of this project was very stimulating for me. In fact l have idealized different solutions to achieve the same objective. The result is great, a building completely in tune with the surrounding landscape, a beautiful Hotel inside and outside.

Project challenge

Redevelop the Hotel’s external image

The challenge for this project was to give the building a new image, transform it, and redevelop its image. Furthermore, it was necessary to create a connection with the internal image, a result of the strategy adopted to distinguish the Hotel from the standardized and depersonalized Hotel industry. Moreover, designing a concept and finding materials able to satisfy the customer’s request (greater connection between the building and the surrounding natural landscape) was not easy.

CONCEPT

The renovation of the Alhambar bar/restaurant involved several constraints. Being a building of historical value, some elements could not be removed, replaced or even touched. In terms of style, the classic style of the theatre in which it is located had to be taken into account and combined with the client’s more modern ideas. In addition, the Alhambar is a modern meeting place for cocktails and aperitifs, a classic restaurant for a lunch break, a family place for Sunday brunch, a nightclub at weekends and a location for private events. So, the choice of seating and tables reflected the functional flexibility of the venue. The fixed furniture, bar and bench, fit the elliptical shape of the room. The construction of the curved bench was certainly one of the main difficulties in production. Equally special was the construction of the back counter, where shelves with a golden metal structure have a mirror covering in the background. The cladding of the bar counter is the result of several samples in terms of shape, size and colour.

Project challenge

Historical theatre in the heart of Geneva

With regard to the construction site and logistics, the main difficulty was to deliver within the old town in an area quite difficult to reach. Furthermore, as for the installation we had to respect some existing elements that characterize the building in terms of its historical value.

Economic Analysis

In this step we performed the economic analysis for all finishes and furniture and with the aim to understand the most appropriate choice in terms of budget, we evaluated whether it was better to renovate the building with a normative adjustment or it was more appropriate to demolish and and remake it thus keeping the facade facing the street.

CONCEPT

In 2015 the Client decided to renovate the Hotel. In order to achieve a better result, we suggested demolishing the old building and rebuild, preserving only the facade on one of the main streets of Nyon. Step through the door to find yourself immersed in an intimate atmosphere of cosy cocooning dominated by soothing shades of sand, black, taupe and copper. The 21 rooms are available in three categories: Standard, Superior and Superior Lake View. Each of the rooms in this unique boutique hotel in Nyon has been designed to offer its guests a special moment of comfort and privacy. Nestled on the top floor of the Hotel are a Junior Suite and the Castle Suite, which offer discretion, refinement and elegance. Both benefit from a lounge area and breath-taking views on the magnificent surroundings, with views of Nyon Castle, Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. The restaurant’s position within the glass veranda at the heart of the Ambassador Boutique Hotel offers diners a bright and refined setting. Its private terrace benefits from a soothing atmosphere, far from the noise and bustle of the city.

Design manager: Irene Izzo

The uniqueness of this Boutique Hotel fascinated me at first sight. The large glass windows immersed into the landscape have allowed me to realize a design aimed at visual continuity between indoor and outdoor. The choice of soft but decisive chromaticism and essential but elegant furniture makes the atmosphere refined and cozy.

Project challenge

Demolition and reconstruction

The challenges in this project were different, in fact, we had to demolish and rebuild the building keeping the facade and we had also to pay attention to the fact that the building is actually located in an urban contest with two adjacent buildings. From a technical point of view, there were a lot of problems due to the age of the building.

Prototyping

The Base Hotel requested high quality standards in order to reduce maintenance during the years. We installed the mock up room and we made some samples of custom furniture in order to achieve the best possible result guaranteeing the standards requested.

CONCEPT

For the realization of this modern Hotel we took care of the development of the detailed drawings, the furnishings and the complete fit-out installation. In close collaboration with the successful Norwood real estate and under the instructions of its architects we took the challenge of furnishing the 35 suites and most of the public areas. The concept for the hotel is very clear: build an Hotel with high quality and sustainable materials offering to the guest an intelligent technology. Our team of professionals has followed the guidelines regarding the standards for the supply of furniture, maintaining a continuous contact with the architect, which is the foundation for the success of the work. Our aim is always to give concrete life to the designer’s ideas, enhancing them thanks to high quality realizations, contributing with our know-how to achieve high level results.

The architects: Norwood

Norwood is a family business specializing in real estate development. Development of plots, project design, construction, advice in order to imagine the solution that best meets the habitat project and personal and financial objectives. Today, under the leadership of Fédéric Mydske, the company has developed the eco-responsable and innovative concept of “Base” for apart-hotels, inaugurated in Nylon in 2015 and in Vevey in 2008.

Project challenge

Intelligent concept for Base

In this case the challenge was to embrace and understand the main concept of Base Hotels. In this way we developed all technical phases of the project, working on synergy with Norwood. We determined a workflow of checking, revisions and approval to achieve the required result.

Purchasing

For  Crans Montana Chalet we have combined high standards of craftsmanship and iconic design pieces. Meeting the client’s requirements within the budget and schedule was not a problem, because of the well-established network of craftsmen, the successful search for a new craftsman for the treatment of the wood coverings and the relationship established over the years with the most prestigious design brands.

CONCEPT

The two flats, of about 130 and 40 square metres respectively, are designed to meet different needs but always retain the same style and harmony between the spaces that characterize them. The renovation involves all the rooms and interior finishes, focusing on the quality materials used in the various areas: from the absolute black granite and glass in the bathrooms to the vie bois, skillfully worked by specialized craftsmen to create all the made-to-measure furnishings, the doors and the bardage, which completely covers the living area of the main flat; the natural stone of the floors in the entrance hall and the kitchen blends perfectly with the oak parquet flooring used in the other rooms. The main flat consists of an entrance hall with guest bathroom, a cozy living room with fireplace, a kitchen and three double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, in order to guarantee maximum privacy to each guest. The studio, on the other hand, consisting of entrance hall-kitchen, double bedroom, bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, is a more intimate and dynamic environment, in which every space is designed in detail to guarantee maximum comfort.

Architect and Interior Designer:
Camilla Giuliani

Even if it is not a large extent project, it was very stimulating to develop this rich and diverse design in materials, finishes and details. The balanced mix of traditional workmanship and finishes as well as modern shapes and finishing makes this project a success in everyone’s eyes.

Project challenge

Vieux bois

Our challenge in this project was to understand and interpret the workmanship of vieux bois, a specialty of mountain craftsmen in the Alps. Our team of architects and technicians pursued this challenge and experimented with the material, achieving a result that conforms to the tradition of chalets and satisfying the client’s request.

Project Assessment

In every project we try to surprise the client with innovative materials, finishes and solutions. In this case, the architect knew from the very beginning that the staircase connecting the two basement floors was the element that deserved special attention. After several attempts, the idea was to have a marble wall with a play of light and a wavy surface similar to a curtain. This wall is the protagonist of the project.

Image depicting a carriage

Purchasing

In this case, the client asked to see and try all the seats proposed in the project in order to approve them. The client and the Hotel manager are well aware of the standards of their clientele and know that the client’s comfort is a priority.

CONCEPT

The client needed to renovate the two basement floors which had not been taken into account in the previous project. The Crowne Plaza Geneva was clearly recognized as a business centre due to its capacity, but the requirement was to modernize these spaces both aesthetically and functionally. In addition to the various conference rooms and their pertinent spaces, the project included the breakfast room, for which there were not too many doubts on the functional level after the positive experience in Zurich, while on the aesthetic level the architect chose to insert more decorative elements. Generally speaking, the concept was respectful of the materials introduced in the previous project deriving from the idea of nature and gardens. In fact, light wood, combined with dark wood and marble are also present on these two floors. Green is also predominant in the breakfast room area overlooking the garden. The conference rooms, on the other hand, feature high tables suitable for coworking and modular seating with brightly coloured combinations.

The architect: Guglielmo Ori

Trained at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Bologna, Guglielmo Ori boasts collaborations with leading architects of international renown such as Jan Kleihues from Berlin and Peter Eisenman, with a studio in New York. Also, he started a collaboration on cultural and theoretical activities as well as architectural international built projects and competitions.

Project challenge

Cooperation

Again, the challenge was to carry out the work with the Hotel in operation. Here too, we took matters into our own hands to organize two phases and defined our own schedule in coordination with that of the other companies.

Complete fit out and installation

The plan to redevelop the rooms from the first to the sixth floor was part of a comprehensive plan that also included raising the building by two floors. So, in this case Gitaly was asked to respect the planning and to be able to organize itself and coordinate with all the other companies on the site.

Image depicting a chair

Prototyping

In this case, we have decided to build the sample room in our workshop in order to study and develop the customized technical solutions that make the room original.

CONCEPT

The client commissioned Gitaly to develop the concept and design as well as carry out construction works for all rooms and corridors from first to sixth floor. Next to Geneva Airport and equipped with a big business center, the Crowne Plaza is attended most of all by business travelers. The idea was to renovate the room with a stylish and elegant concept in order to make the traveler feel at home. Elegance and comfort are the key points. Beige and sand colours match wengé wood, travertine marble and glass. A combination of smart solution for wardrobe and tv panel with a system of sliding glass doors make the rooms wider and airier. All materials were carefully selected. A mock up room was built to improve all details of the room and for acceptance from the client.

Project Manager: Elisabetta Boldrini

The world-renowned Crowne Plaza brand is known for its elegance and comfort, which is primarily dedicated to business travellers. A room with simple lines, functional furnishings and a relaxing atmosphere was the key to success for this project, which led to a long-term collaboration with the Crowne Plaza brand.

Project challenge

A great renovation

The Crowne Plaza is well known for its size and number of rooms (366), which certainly required more organization not only on site for the installation, but also in the production planning. This challenge was accepted by Gitaly with no difficulty and led to a satisfactory result as well as to a long-term relationship with this hotel.

A constant commitment to the development of furniture executives and cladding details, together with a continuous search for finishes consistent with the Taiwanese architect’s concept, have been the keys to a success that is visible to all Hotel guests years later.

Image depicting a carriage

Purchasing

The design of the CCD studio in Taiwan often involved materials and products that were only commercially available in the geographic area where the architectural firm was located and did not take into account the client’s budget for the Crowne Plaza Geneva project. By using our network of suppliers and through relentless research by our team of designers supported by the purchasing department, we could meet all the architect’s requirements while obviously sticking to the client’s budget.

CONCEPT

The building, in addition to being completely renovated both from an aesthetic and plant engineering point of view, has been raised by two floors made of glass and steel, in full contrast with the architectural style of the six existing floors. In a second phase and in collaboration with the Taiwanese architect Celia Chu, we created the public areas of the ground floor, the rooms, suites, lounge and fitness areas on the seventh and eighth floor. The previously dull atmosphere was overhauled with a picturesque garden view in the public space. By transforming the natural elements and colours into a modern design language, the Hotel can welcome its guests with the most comfortable hospitality. The restaurant “Seventy5” and bar integrates local design and cultural elements, so that guests will feel like they are in a traditional kitchen or eatery, while also enjoying fashionable and youthful vibes. The bar offers leisurely and relaxing moments to everyone, with hints of lavender in its colour scheme.

The architect: Celia Chu

Celia Chu is the principal figure and visionary in her design firm-Celia Chu Design. Inspired by her passion for art and design, Celia combines practical functionality and her unique expression in design sensibilities to form a holistic approach to all her projects. Celia’s work has appeared numerous times in many international design publications such as Shotenkenchiku, Interior, GQ Taiwan and Modern Decoration.

Project challenge

A Hotel in Geneva, passing through Taiwan

The project of Crowne Plaza geneva suites and public areas will probably always be remembered for its collaboration with a Taiwanese architecture firm, where a simple exchange of views was complicated by a different time zone. We set up a very tight revision workflow so that every element was approved by the Art Director of this project, without compromising the timing of procurement and production of the goods.

The advantage that we have perceived by collaborating with Gitaly was that the company was responsive to any needs and ablle to adapt their work in such a way that the Hotel could remain open during the entire cunstruction period.

PROJECT ASSESSMENT-BUDGET

The same client of Geneva commissioned us to develop the project for the public areas of the Crowne Plaza in Zurich, entrusting us with an important task that took us beyond the borders of the French-speaking cantons where we have already consolidated many years of experience. This dual partnership with the Crowne Plaza chain of Hotels is the result of the relationship of trust that has been established over time with the client, to whom we have been able to offer the design, logistical and organizational support required, in full respect of established deadlines and budgets.

Project-assessment- Gitaly contract

PROJECT ASSESSMENT-CONCEPT

At the design level we started from the initial images elaborated by Guglielmo Ori elaborated and we have refined the choices of trims, furniture, lighting and decorations. Although the area of the restaurant had been completely approved by client and developed in detail, during the work, the client decided to entrust the restaurant  to the well-known Theo Randall franchising, and for this we have adapted some of our choices to the franchising concept.

CONCEPT

For this Hotel we decided to involve as art director architect Guglielmo Ori, in order to give an elegant, but contemporary style to the Hotel. Just a stone’s throw from the lively Langstrasse district and not far from the city centre, the Crowne Plaza Zurich has a sparkling style, characterized by a perfectly harmonious stylistic dialogue between the public areas and the rest of the Hotel. In the breakfast area the light tones of calacatta marble combined with pastel colours accompany the customer in a relaxing chromatic-sensory experience. In stark contrast, the style of the restaurant and bar, visible from the street through very fine copper-coloured metal mesh, is characterized by black marble cladding enlivened by furnishing elements with metal finishes ranging from silver to gold, copper and chairs in elegant, yet decisive tones. In the hall the colours are bright and guests are welcomed by soft tones, enlivened by more intense touches of colour in the seats that create a lively and modern ambience. A perfect combination of functionality and style. In this project we took care of all the aspects and phases of the renovation; in addition to the restyling with which we wanted to impress the client by creating custom elements designed by Architect Guglielmo Ori, we also took care of the plant engineering and coordination of the site in all the executive steps.

The architect: Guglielmo Ori

Trained at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Bologna, Guglielmo Ori boasts collaborations with leading architects of international renown, including Jan Kleihues of Berlin and Peter Eisenman, with a studio in New York. Also, he started a collaboration on cultural and theoretical activities as well as architectural international built projects and competitions.

Project challenge

Discovering Zurich

The challenge for Crowne Plaza Zurich project has been surely at the logistic and yard level. In fact, we have worked in Zurich where we don’t have the same consolidated experience that we have in French cantons of Geneva. At construction site level it has been necessary to organize the jobs in steps with a precise compartmentalisation of these, because the Hotel was open and also usually frequented by large groups of organized trips. In this project we also directed the works and coordinated the part of the plant engineering in order to proceed within a short time. In fact, at the plant engineering/legislative level, there were a lot of unexpected and discoveries during the demolition phase. Thanks to our flexibility, we have solved the problems and completed the works in the according timing.

Details drawings

The concept placed great importance on the functionality of the room’s furnishing elements. This is why all the details were studied during the executive design phase, in a continuous dialogue with the client. Our aim was to give the client the required result. Therefore, through our team of technicians and designers, we explored every part of the supply according to its use and redesigned each element to prevent any possible problems.

CONCEPT

The concept of these rooms was really simple and essential. In fact, the need was to have maximum comfort and functionality in some of the hotel’s not very large rooms. So, after establishing a colour palette consistent with the identity of the hotel, we worked on the designs of each element of the hotel room to make them functional, but with minimal dimensions. All the details were designed and defined to make the rooms functional both from the customer’s point of view and from the hotel’s management perspective.

Technical and Quality Director: Samuele Tordini

In this project all the elements of the room are customized, so the technical department developed the drawings of each element following the palette of finishes and materials indicated by the designers in our team. The collaboration between the different departments allowed us to develop the perfect solution for this project.

Project challenge

Focus on comfort

In this case, the challenge was to conceive, design and produce a design room that gave priority to functionality. Often, in the conception of design objects, priority is given to aesthetics rather than functionality. In this case, however, comfort in the use of the room and the management of the hotel were the main focus of the project.

Large windows and large mirrors bring contrast and brightness. The main idea was to create a space that could be more than a gym, a place where people can meet and discuss about common interests in sport.

Production and quality control

The aim of achieving high standards in quality and style, within the agreed budgets, is realized in a complete renovation of the interiors, based on technical solutions tailored to the customer’s needs. Our team dealt with the research, selection, assembly and installation of high-performance technical materials in terms of durability and hygiene. All this without renouncing to the industrial but sophisticated style, where the combination of design and functionality has created an exclusive and trendy project.

CONCEPT

The aim of the project carried out in 2015 was the rational distribution of 1.300 square metres of surface area, in accordance with technical and sports training requirements. CrossFit, spinning, aerobics, equipment, sauna and relaxation are the main activities for which the various functional areas are intended. The large volume with imposing heights and large skylights on the ceiling is divided into independent volumes, each of which is designed using state-of-the-art solutions. These include the installation of rgb LEDS and the laying of technical flooring differentiated on the basis of different stress loads. In the changing room area, customized lockers with an aged finish and innovative locks are installed, while the shower area is paved with non-slip grey stoneware treated with innovative antibacterial technologies. Compliance with regulations in force concerning comfort and safety goes hand in hand with design and chromatic consistency.

Design Manager: Irene Izzo

The spacious high-tech sports centre was built according to the current trend in industrial design and its planning was a real challenge. However, we managed to find the right combination of design and functionality, resulting in an exclusive and trendy project, the design of which was extremely stimulating for me.

Project challenge

A special gym

As well as the need to find suitable materials in terms of quality and peculiar to the various rooms of the Fitness California, each with a specific function, the client’s idea was to create a new kind of gym which would be a place for all the people who train at a professional or amateur level to meet and share. This led to the idea of including a bar where only snacks and drinks recommended during training are served, with tables and lounge seating where clients can socialize

The main material in this Hotel is wood. The renovation requested by the client was soft and not too invasive, so removing all the wooden parts for a complete replacement was not feasible, especially considering the available budget. The concept was to make the Hotel more modern by denaturing the colour of the wood in shades of grey. After several attempts with our craftsmen, we optimized the solution in terms of aesthetics, quality and budget by sandblasting the wood.

CONCEPT

The Manotel Group operates six Hotels each with a unique concept, clearly distinguished one from the other, while sharing the Group’s key values about hospitality. This Hotel is “the most Swiss in Geneva” offering to the client all authenticity of a Swiss chalet. In 2020 the Hotel was renovated making its character more modern. The wood turns into grey shade matching with grey stone and wrought iron elements. All furniture was changed with more modern shapes. All rooms and public areas are decorated with black and white photos of the Swiss Alps.

Project challenge

Organization and velocity of the execution

The challenge of this project was to organize the renovation of the entire Hotel Edelweiss in the very shortest time. The 42 rooms are located on a single staircase, which had to be renovated together with the public areas. The key to success was the precise management of the planning with all the skilled workers.

Project-assessment- Gitaly contract

PROJECT ASSESSMENT

We were commissioned by the client to develop a concept only for the rooms, while for public areas, halls and other spaces has remained the concepts projected by the architect Paul Sartres. In this project our challenge was to find an innovative solution able to convince the client about the possibility to make the rooms more current without contradicting the precedent project. The result has been an elegant, luxury without timeless project.

Customer-lifetime-approach-

CUSTOMER LIFETIME APPROACH

Our collaboration with Manotel Group lasts since years as we were always able to answer promptly with innovative solutions to all their problems of maintenance and restoration. We have utilised luxury materials for example the marble for the rooms, and these materials require a more technique attention. Thanks to our experience and to the tests that we conduct on the materials, the client always feels free to contact us for any problem.

CONCEPT

Hotel Royal was totally renovated in 2007 with a project of the architect Paul Sartres that defines all rooms as the rooms of bourgeois houses which, with their refined furniture, their woodwork, tapestries and paintings, exude well-being and comfort. In 2019 the client decided to renovate some rooms with our project, as we knew better than this luxurious structure very well. The welcoming and refined atmosphere is created by the balanced use of elegant fabrics, neutral colours, interesting finishes and carefully chosen and made furniture and furnishing objects. Close to the major arteries of the city, the lake, the lively neighbourhoods, this 4-star luxury hotel makes comfort an art and the well-being of the customer a priority. For the rooms we have chosen a chic, refined and elegant style. The tones of colours that tend to silver in the rooms light up thanks to touches of brighter and warmer finishes creating a muffled and enveloping atmosphere.

Technical and Manager Director: Samuele Tordini

Making our technical drawings we provide visual guidelines and show how to construct a product. Drawings include technical details and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures. For Hotel Royal this step was one of the most important as all furniture and claddings are composed of different materials and we used a variety of suppliers in order to achieve the final result.

Project challenge

In the heart of Geneva

The challenge was at the logistic level because the Hotels of Monotel chain are located in the centre of Geneva and are historic buildings which makes deliveries rather complicated. In this case, Hotel Royal is located in one of the principal streets of Geneva, near the central station. Also in terms of the job timing we are often given a timeframe close to the main event held in the city the “Geneva Motor Show” that draws  people from around the world in Geneva, and this leaves no margin for errors or unexpected.

I’m very satisfied of the final result; quality and rapidity are the best advantages we have received from Gitaly, thanks to its professionality and efficacy.

CONCEPT

The Hotel Jade project conceived by the architect Patrick Ribes, is completely inspired by China and Feng Shui, also the name “Jade” was chosen to honour the sacred stone of China, a precious material that symbolizes life, joy, harmony and peace. The spaces were projected with the utilise of color patterns ochre, red, blue, green, white associated to five elements of Feng Shui: earth, fire, water, wood and metal. The focus is on the finishes that were realized with authentic and refined materials like bamboo, wenge, ikat, to give a touch of serenity and balance.

We have collaborated with the Paris studio in perfect harmony. Ribes enjoys an international reputation in the projecting of luxury design contract spaces. He is responsible for important projects for Givenchy, Dior, Guerlain.

CONCEPT

Hotel Kipling’s name comes by national fame novelist Rudyard Kipling. The Hotel has been totally renovated increasing the quality level and also to make it more original. This project is the result of a strong collaboration with the architect Patrick Ribes, with which we have worked on different occasions. The Hotel Kipling opens its doors like an adventure novel. With its colonial-style furniture exuding the West Indies, and saffron- and spice-coloured rooms, it invites you to embark on a journey within its walls. Infused with an exotic atmosphere evoking the splendours of India while radiating a sense of comfort and sensuality, your stay will be transformed into an adventure in which you play the leading role. The renovation concerns both the rooms public areas. The rooms have been projected paying attention to minimal details, from the walls painted with the yellow saffron and red chilli colours, to forniture in exotic wood deliberately antiqued.

The architect: Patrick Ribes

We have collaborated with the Paris studio in perfect harmony. Ribes enjoys an international reputation in the projecting of luxury design contract spaces. He is responsible for important projects for Givenchy, Dior, Guerlain.

Wood processing as in India

Through our network of suppliers we had no problems in the supply of exotic woods and in the realization of furniture with these particular woods.

In only six months we completed the fit-out works for 153 rooms and all public spaces in the Hotel.

We believe that furniture plays a vital role in client Hotel experience and in hotel management. Based on the client’s requirement in terms of design, image, and budget we supplied furniture fully in line with client specifications and the architect’s requests. Our professional furniture solutions must be practical, flexible and stylish in equal parts.

Image depicting a chair

Prototyping

The exclusive bed solutions is a clear example of that. Architect idea was a suspended bed. To meet the Hotel’s needs in terms of management and the constraints of construction, we create a bed fully surrounded by mirrors reflecting all surfaces making it look suspended. This idea was designed and built, afterwards improved in details and the final touch was the addition of the lighting.

CONCEPT

For the Hotel N’vy we worked on the design of the rooms and public areas in collaboration with the well-known architect Patrick Ribes. In synergy with him and his studio we have designed rooms full of vibrant energy in which modern details, street style, futuristic works of art and a wide palette of colors coexist. Fusion style design furniture completes the work by creating very glamorous boho-chic settings. Great attention has been paid to the search for cutting-edge technological solutions: chromotherapy, RGB lighting, LED TV, interactive touch-screen tables and the latest generation wellness centre. This oasis full of light and technology has a composite urban atmosphere that invites you to relax. In the rooms we have proposed a combination of styles for the furniture, fresh colors and modular rooms to give the user the best possible experience. We also worked on the entrance of the public areas, bar, restaurant, café and other service areas. Each space has a strong identity, that makes the project more complex and interesting at the same time. The interior design concept accentuates the promotion of art in all areas of the Hotel thanks to contemporary works and permanent exhibitions by international artists.

Project challenge

Unforeseen during the yard

At yard level, the most difficult challenge for this project was discovering the presence of asbestos in the building. The removal of asbestos requires that determined zones and exits can be occupied only by specialized company, for this reason, during the demolition we have reviewed all yard operations in order to respect the already short timing of delivery.

Smart bed solution

All client’s ideas were transformed in details, decorations, materials, furnishings by the technical/design office. All this in full compliance with the client’s budget and considering our experience in the Hotel operations. For example, we had the idea to apply a strip with the mirror under the sommier of the bed to make the effect of a floating bed combining the architect’s idea concerning the type of bed and the practicality that the Hotel requires in the daily management operations.

The aim was to respect the result that the construction company and client required in terms of functional and aesthetic quality, budget and timing. The society of construction contacted us in mid-summer and in the end of October we had already delivered and installed all the materials. So, in this case, thanks to our organization, we have posed the focus on velocity of execution, but always respecting all the steps necessary to assure a quality final result.

CONCEPT

Nash Airport needed structural reinforcement before the two new floors offering 35 rooms and 2 additional apartments were raised. The existing facades had to be completely renovated to reach current standards. The choice was made of an elevation which is part of the continuity of the original expression of the building, the two added floors being subtly differentiated to allow the whole to retain its initial consistency. The transformation of Nash Airport was an opportunity to make it compliant with fire and, above all, anti-seismic standards. The elevation of the two levels is a light load-bearing structure made of wood-metal, thus saving weight and speeding up installation. The renovation and expansion required the complete closure of the Hotel. However, there was no question of cutting yourself off from the clientele. A precisely timed operation has been set up which encompasses the entire future complex. Work therefore began in April 2017 with the construction of Nash Cointrin, a “four star plus”, in parallel ten months later with those of Nash Pratik, a Hotel focused on design and functionality. Both Hotels were able to enter service in the spring of 2019. It was at this point that work began on Nash Airport, with new entrants ensuring continued operations. The work was carried out at a very high pace since Nash Airport reopened after only seven months, in January 2020.

Project challenge

Watchword: velocity

In Nash Airport Hotel project the challenge was to enter a site already underway with a tight schedule. From the very first steps of the evaluations we also had to compress the timings as much as possible. We managed to coordinate the production, logistics and installation respecting the deadlines that we had agreed with the client. The construction company has always been available and highly competent in the general organisation.

Complete fit out and installation

The construction site was developed in several steps: from the assembly of the facades to the interior finishing and realization of the square. Timely planning made it possible to complete the project in due time. The collaboration with the other companies on site as well as the coordination of our resources were essential for the successful completion of the project.

Image depicting a light bulb

Engineering

Consistent supervision guided the working teams through the assembly of the facades using drywall technology designed specifically for this project. Close monitoring of the construction phases made it possible to keep to the time and budget set in the preliminary phase of the project, for the satisfaction of the client.

CONCEPT

The complex is characterized by two buildings joined by a bridge element and a third curved building. Etoy’s facades consists of metal elements, pilasters with industrial colours, which generate a skillful play of light and shadow, giving the building a strong sculptural dynamism that brings uniqueness to the whole complex. The large glass surfaces act as pauses and excavations within the metal material, enhancing the interior spaces. If dynamism identifies the upper floors of the architectural artefacts, the ground connection of the facade is characterized by “flat” metal surfaces alternating with the large glass surfaces. An unconventional building design, supported by innovative technologies and materials aimed at energy-efficient performance of the complex. The facades is designed as a dry system: metal substructure, sandwich panel curtain walling, aluminum-clad composite panel cladding. The envelope makes use of high-performance materials, both in the opaque surface and in the interspacing, making the building more functional and up to date with the latest sustainability concepts. The openings, defined to ensure internal lighting comfort in relation to use throughout the day, use triple glazing with adjustable internal blinds.

Project Manager: Elisabetta Boldrini

I-Life, an innovative concept that l prefer to think of as “a small town” where the customers deciding to build their own house can get all the support they need. The innovative concept had to be confirmed with an innovative design. The extent of the work and the number of participants in the project were a very valuable learning experience for me.

Project challenge

A green complex

Many challenges were involved in I-Life project. The “numbers” of this project speak for themselves: 83.800 m3 above ground. The materials and technologies used were chosen in accordance with Swiss energy classifications, so that right from the design of the facades, our team of architects and technicians had to deal with innovative solutions and high-performance materials.
